The 1949 Ford body design was actually created early in 1942 and scheduled for release soon after, but due to WWII, the release was postponed. The 1949 model year marked a major change for the station wagon from an all wood body to a metal body with wood clad only on the sides and tailgate. The undercarriage was also modernized with open drive line and a more modern front suspension.
This Deep Blue Sapphire has been further modernized with a 302 cu" small block Ford, AOD overdrive transmission, Mustang II front end with rack and pinion power steering and disc brakes. The wood is new with multiple coats of spar varnish. The body is near perfect with coat after coat of deep Sapphire Blue metallic paint.
The interior is tastefully done in supple blue leather, dark blue carpeting and wood grained dash that emits cold a/c for a very coooool ride.
This modified 1949 Ford Woodie wagon will certainly turn heads at the local drive and then take it's occupants safely to destinations unknown.
Come see and drive her at our Southern California showroom soon.
