1942 HUDSON SUPER-SIX STATION WAGON
In early 1942 the automobile industry in the United States was begining to come
to a halt. The following quote was taken from a 1942 Hudson sales brochure:
"Along with other motor car manufacturers, we at Hudson have been entrusted
with a large and steadily increasing amount of defense work. We are glad that,
without interfering with the performance of this national service, we are able to
present new 1942 models. While necessarily restricted in number, these cars
maintain the high standards of manufacturing skill and accuracy established
during 32 years of engineering leadership."
When Hudson production ceased in early 1942 the total number of cars was only 40,661. It is thought that of this total only about 15 were woodie station wagons.
We know of only four remaining. The woodies were all six cylinder inline L-head engines with 102 horsepower. The wheelbase was 121". The seating was three
rows of seats and room for eight people. This was the seventh and last year of station wagon production for Hudson. The white ash and mahogany wood bodies were made by Campbell of Waterloo, New York.
Not for sale/personal collection.
